About Project Airspace

What is this thing?

Project Airspace is our take on what a modern Air Traffic Control simulator should be. It will give you the opportunity to take control of one of three-thousand global airports from inside a dynamic 3D tower. Leveraging AI-powered speech-to-text and language understanding systems, Project Airspace will interpret complex, spoken commands, and respond to you using lifelike modern speech synthesis.

Our aim is to blend real-time, real-world global aviation data with a smidge of creative direction to create a truly engaging experience.

Creative Direction? Is this some sort of arcade game?

Not really- but we are taking some creative liberties to create the most interactive experience possible, while ensuring we build an authentic, true-to-life simulator. Our end goal is to build something that delivers the raw 'feeling' of being an ATC, rather than necessarily duplicating every little detail of real life.

What 'creative liberties'?

Our take on tower technologies is a good example to give you an idea of what we're talking about here. To properly learn the logic flow of an ATC (or any role for that matter), it is usually best to start with the fundamentals and build from there. In order to do this in project airspace without ominously disabling certain aspects of modern systems, we've given smaller towers older & simpler radar systems (more in this devlog). This means you can learn the very basics of how ATC flows work, with the lower traffic volumes of quieter airports (which has the added benefit of making small airports more active for the controller).

How do I get my hands on this?

Project Airspace is still very deep in development, but if you're keen to get involved and shape the development process, our discord is where pre-release testing will be organized. Otherwise you can still influence Project Airspace by reaching out with your thoughts in any of the methods below.
